Make The World Better

Today, I want you to do something. For me, for you, for the world at large. Today, I want you to go out of your way to make some one else's day better. Even if you're having the worst kind of day. Especially if you're having the worst kind of day. Take one moment or several to give what you would like to receive.
Say a prayer~ for your mom, your son, your waitress or the elephants at the zoo. Hold the door open for more than one person. Bake cupcakes for your elderly neighbor. Give hugs where they are needed. Listen instead of trying to be heard. Drop off cat food at a shelter. Leave a random note on a windshield stating, "don't worry, everything is going to be alright". Tell her she looks beautiful. Offer to make dinner. Text a love poem. Look him in the eyes when you say, "thank you". Give yellow carnations to the stranger of your choice.
I want you to do something. I want you to be a reflection of the Divine. For one moment or several. I want you to give to receive. I want you to make the world better. I want you to do this today.

  2. Okay I've started with myself today. Give a little more for ME. Tomorrow I'll promise you, I'll fulfill your wish and be there for others. Thanks for this great great post.

  3. Kamana,

OMG! Yes! That counts in a big, big way!! You are more brave than I will ever be. :)

    Ms. Barefoot From Heaven,

Giving to yourself is the perfect way to start. :) Tonight, I will sip a soothing cup of tea in your honor.

  4. This is SO minor, but it apparently made a difference in someone else's life. I ordered a pizza. It took, one hour for delivery instead of the 45 minutes promised. When the delivery guy offered to give it to me for free, I said absolutely not and gave him a tip. He tipped his hat to me and said he feared we were going to call in that the pizza was late. He said rarely do people NOT take him up on the offer for a free pizza and he has to pay for it out of his salary. I closed the door and realize what a simple thing made such a difference. Thank you for the reminder to share the JOY of the Divine.

  5. Jeanne,

What a great example of how the SEEMINGLY minor acts we perform can have such an impact. I'm so glad you offered this comment. It made a difference for me!

  6. Great reminder, Graciel. Yesterday, I was having a not so great day and three different people went out of their way to do something nice for me without even knowing what kind of day I was having. It really changed my day around. Today maybe I can do the same for someone else. Hope you have a great weekend. :)

  8. It is so true, little acts of kindness go a LONG way. We never know how our acts will affect other person. I always try to compliment strangers, pick up the slack where I can and make a positive difference. It makes ME feel good too:)

I've called it 'giving God kisses' and used that phrase last Friday in speaking to our town's graduating seniors. Because..when kisses are thus given, they are also, proportionally and extraordinarily, abled to be perceived as received as well..

You sit in the back there, waiting to hear sermons, but the wise ones among us will go through your notes, and doodles, and look at those things you circle and underline, and be very happy they came, no matter who else is scheduled to speak..
