her pond, the last day i saw her.
the 3 backyard bats are out early tonight,
flitting in front of the chunk of a moon.
I hear the high school marching band
practicing under the lights.
i sit on the bench, watching the bats,
rocking back and forth.
we buried her today.
ovarian cancer won.
she lost and we lost
and there has been a flood of tears.
Oh, No...Graciel? Your mother? :(

I am so very sorry Graciel. Sending love and hugs for your loss. What a difficult but amazing journey you are on with the women in your life. You are so fortunate to have each other...they, for your support and you for having wise women as mentors. It takes much courage to face death and it takes much courage to walk someone to the gate and say farewell.
ReplyDeletemuch love, Kate
