wind and water

safe in the roots of the sitting tree,
i sat with wind at the edge of water.
there was shifting and change.
it was cold.

do not be uneasy with the changes,
said the sitting tree to me.
if everything were to leave you,
if you feel you are alone
and cast off,
you are not.

you are safe in the winds and
the turbulent waters,
for your anchor, your roots
lie not outside,
they begin and end in your soul.

  1. Hello Graciel! What a pleasure to come across your blog. I presume you wrote this poem, it is stunning. You are spectacular person for letting the universe run through you with such reckless abandon, thank you for the reminder that I must allow that more in my life too. I let the universe write a poem through my pen called Willow Tree. It is on the page called Words with Boots on my blog, would love to know what you think of it. Kindest regards.

  3. i love that i've met this sitting tree before, right here, you introducing us. i love knowing it's still there for you, that you still seek its company, that it still has wisdom and comfort for you. and i love this poem. you are your anchor. no matter how swift or hard the current, you will stay afloat.

    xoxo

  4. yes, right there, and though at times the wind may batter that soul just bit, it is strong enough to survive. a sitting tree is a gift, i am so glad that you have one.
